Teaching in BCL

Teachers have access to a dedicated Teaching Area where they can deliver a lesson through an integrated A/V system and/or run supervised play sessions. The A/V system provides a screen share facility to display any interactive teaching material.

Teaching Area

The Teaching Area has a similar layout to the main Club, it contains a Lobby, several Teaching Rooms and a Practice Room

Teachers can pre-book a private Teaching Room which can accommodate up to 24 tables and up to 160 members. Bookings can be made for any day, in any one of: :

    .
  • 3 x fixed 5 hour slot periods (UK - morning, afternoon, or evening)
  • 1 x fixed 9 hour slot period (for non-UK time zones)

Teachers can also upload a maximum of 48 specific hand deals associated with their teaching material for each time slot. This gives a great deal of flexibility to schedule and plan lessons.

Room E (for Education)

Room E is accessible at any time and has pre-loaded hands on various topics and SIMS with associated commentaries. Teachers can use these as a 'stand-alone' teaching aid providing 200 boards with comprehensive analysis of the bidding & the play. Members also have access to Room E for their own self directed bridge play.

Practice Room

The Practice Room is accessible to all teachers 24/7 for supervised play practice. It holds up to 24 tables and contains 48 random-dealt boards and the boards are changed weekly, on a Tuesday. The boards in the Practice Room are transferred from the Coaching Corner each week, so sets are available to play for 2 weeks. Teachers are supplied each week by email with the Double-Dummy analysis and the .pbn file.

Teacher Registration

Teachers who wish to take advantage of using the BridgeClubLive Teaching Area must first register and get in touch with our Teaching co-ordinator to get authorisation and access. There are no costs for teachers to use this facility other than they must be a current full member of BridgeClubLive.

Student Access

Approved teachers can provide a free full membership for bona fide students on their courses for a maximum of their first whole year. They will have full access to all BCL Rooms. Thereafter the normal subscription rates apply, including a special Student Subscription (£15/annum) for those under 18 or in full time education.

Other discounts may be applicable at the time of membership renewal (e.g. our Low User 50% discount, for those who play less than 500 boards in the main club in the preceding 12 months).

All our subscriptions allow UNLIMITED play and are NOT per session or per board.

Teacher's Get-together

We have a very supportive group of teachers who are always willing to share ideas and best practice.
