Simple System Disclosure (SSD)

An SSD is per definition by partnership agreement and not a personal system card/convention card.
A single person cannot setup or change the partnership's SSD because both partners have to confirm and agree. North or East fills it in and South or West confirms.
When your bridge partner and you set up an SSD then it is stored for future use.

The information disclosed in a partnership SSD

The SSD provides options for: Basic Bidding System, Opening One No-Trump, Opening Major Suit Bids, Opening Two Bids, Discard System. Please ensure that there is not inconsistent information, particularly between the first and fourth lines. If in doubt, please seek advice from the CTD.
The SSD Extra has space to include optional extra information to disclose other agreed conventions and methods. It is recommended, and to your benefit, to include all agreements in your SSD and SSD Extra.

You can look at your own partnership SSD and SSD Extra at ALL times

Law 40B2b states: “Unless the Regulating Authority provides otherwise, a player may not consult his own system card …. “.
The "Regulating Authority" in our case is BCL itself, and BCL permits the viewing of the information contained in the SSDs and SSD Extras of one's own side by players at any time.
BCL is not alone. In 2020, the EBU published its “Sky Blue Book” of Regulations for online play for EBU events, and they allow players to consult their own system cards. The reason given by the EBU is that it is impossible to police against players consulting their system cards at home. BCL had additionally stated that it seemed unreasonable that it couldn’t police against players referring to detailed system notes at home while players with hundreds of pick-up and occasional partners could not refer to a few basic agreements on their SSD.

Events that require SSDs and SSD Extras
